Under-13 Records Addendum
This addendum applies to one thing: a private studio or independent teaching practice, already activated for real student records, choosing to keep records about students under 13. It adds to the terms of use and the privacy statement; it replaces neither. Accepting it turns on under-13 records for your workspace, and only your workspace.
Read this one properly. It is short because each sentence carries weight, and two of them tell you things most products would not say out loud.
1. You enter these records, on your representation
Records about a student under 13 are entered and maintained by you, the adult teacher — about your own student, for your own teaching, scheduling, and invoicing. For each such record, the representation you already made in the terms carries the full weight here: you teach the student, any parent or guardian permission required by law, school policy, or your own lesson agreement with the family was obtained before the record was entered, and you will keep evidence of that permission and produce it if we, a parent or guardian, or a regulator reasonably asks.
Praxis Percussion does not independently verify that representation, and no product behavior — including the optional guardian confirmation flow — should be read as verifying it.
2. What we do and do not do with these records
- The child has no account. Student sign-in and access codes are refused for your workspace, in every mode — enforced in the software, not only stated here. The child submits nothing to us directly.
- We store an age category, never a birth date, and we do not ask for the child's email, phone, address, photos, or health information.
- We do not advertise to anyone, we do not sell these records, and we do not train general-purpose AI on them.
- A parent or guardian may ask what we hold about their child, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to taylor@backwerdrimshot.com — no account needed, and whether or not you still subscribe. We act on those requests under our documented erasure procedure, and we will tell you when we do.
3. The honest legal posture
We have not received a fact-specific legal opinion clearing this arrangement under children's privacy law. Our position is the one comparable studio-management services operate on: records a teacher keeps about their own student are the teacher's records, held by Praxis on the teacher's behalf. That is a position, not a ruling. Nothing in this addendum is COPPA verifiable parental consent, and nothing you accept here makes it so. If our assessment changes, this addendum will be corrected and you will be asked to accept the corrected version before continuing to add such records.
4. If something is wrong, stop and tell us
If you learn that a family's permission was missing for a record you entered, or a parent tells you they object, stop entering information about that student and write to taylor@backwerdrimshot.com. Removal goes through the documented erasure procedure — deliberately, so that removal is real and recorded rather than a hidden flag.
What Praxis records when you accept
Accepting writes an acknowledgement naming you, your organization, the moment you accepted, and the exact version of this addendum and of the documents it was accepted alongside — identified by a digest of the published text, so what you agreed to can be reproduced word for word later. The acknowledgement contains no student information, and turning under-13 records on for your workspace is recorded with its own receipt. There is no off switch afterward: ending under-13 record-keeping means removing those records through the erasure procedure, not toggling a setting.
